An overnight shooting reported in Newark sent one person to the hospital suffering serious injuries.
Gunfire erupted in the 700 block of South 20th Street sending police to the scene shortly before midnight where officers found the victim suffering a gunshot injury to the abdomen according to reports.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital where the extent of their injury was only reported as severe as of 3:30 a.m.
Police set up a crime scene that stretched several blocks where they searched for evidence and a possible suspect.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
There were no arrests reported.
