Police in Newark are looking into the motive for a shooting that caused serious injuries in a section of the city's South Ward Friday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, police were called to investigate reports of shots fired that rang out in the 50's block of Voorhees Street at around 11 p.m.
Units arrived and found an unidentified person suffering bullet wounds at that location.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital, where doctors began treating the gunshot wounds.
Police officers who canvassed the shooting scene located multiple shell casings during the investigation.
The suspect has not been apprehended at this time.
