Serious Injuries Reported in Newark South Ward Shooting

Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that left at least one person injured in the city's South Ward overnight.

A male victim was rushed to University Hospital at around 10:30 p.m. after gunfire erupted in the 100 block of Bragaw Avenue.

The extent of the victim's injuries were not available as of 5:45 a.m.

Police setup a crime scene where they searched for a suspect and a possible motive for the shooting.

In a separate shooting incident, police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Hill Street and Washington Street at around 11 p.m.

Arriving units searched the area for a crime scene and possible victims.

There was a male victim laying on the ground conscious but it's not immediately clear if he was struck by gunfire.

Both shootings are under investigation by Newark Police.
