A shooting that had police in a neighborhood in Newark's Central Ward is under investigation by authorities.
Police rushed to the area of South Orange Avenue and Bergen Street after receiving reports of shots fired with a person injured at that location.
Units arriving at the scene found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen according to reports.
EMS transported the victim the very short distance to University Hospital where doctors treated the victim for the injury.
Police set up a crime scene where they searched for evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
There were no other injuries reported.
