A male found suffering a gunshot wound in a Newark North Ward neighborhood overnight has police investigating.
The incident happened at approximately just before 10 p.m. in the vicinity of Wakeman and 2nd avenues.
According to preliminary reports, multiple rounds of gunfire rang out in the area sending police to the scene where they found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the back.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital where the extent of his injuries were only reported as serious
Police say bullets also struck the window of a car that was occupied by a man. The man suffered non-life threatening injuries due to shattered glass.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
