Police are investigating whether overnight shootings that left three people injured in the city are connected.
Gunfire rang out in the 700 block of South 20th Street shortly before 11 p.m. sending police to the scene where they began a search for three black males who fled the scene in a red pickup truck after reportedly firing several round of gunfire in the area striking at least one person.
The male victim (who was reported to be in his early 30's) was rushed by EMS to University Hospital in an unknown condition a short time later.
The suspect's vehicle is reported to be a red 2004 Dodge Ram with a possible NJ license plate number "WPV-87W". The vehicle has 20" chrome rims and a "OBX" sticker on the back.
At around 1 a.m., hospital officials alerted police to a male victim that walked into University Hospital suffering a gunshot wound to the chest. The man reported to officials that the shooting happened in the area of 19th Street and 19th Ave. Police setup a crime scene in the area where they searched for evidence that a shooting had occurred and a possible suspect. The extent of the man's injuries have not been released at this time.
A male victim that walked into a store in the 800 block Broad Street bleeding heavily from the leg had store employees immediately contact authorities. The victim left the store in an unknown direction before police arrived to the scene.
A search of the area had police come up negative for the victim. Shortly before 3:30 a.m., the victim made his way to University Hospital. The victim's injury did not appear to be life threatening.
Police are attempting to determine if the shootings are connected.
