Second Shooting of the Evening in Less Than an Hour Injures Man in Newark

Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara is assisting his officers on the scene of a shooting with injuries reported in Newark at this time. 

In the second shooting incident that occurred in the city within an hour, gunfire rang out in the 60’s block of Pennsylvania Avenue around 8:05 p.m., sending police to the scene to investigate.

Upon arrival, police were told that Elizabeth Fire and EMS were flagged down for a man suffering a bullet wound in his groin inside a liquor store in the 1100 block of Broad Street. 

The victim’s condition has been reported as serious at this time. 

Police say the suspect fled the scene and remain at large.
