Second Fire in Less Than a Year Destroys Building in Orange

Orange

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office was called to the scene to assist in the investigation into a suspicious fire that ripped through a building in less than a year in Orange.

According to a preliminary investigation, Orage firefighters were assisted by several neighboring fire departments after flames tore through a building located at 335 Henry Street around 11:10 p.m.

Officials said when firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the three-story building engulfed in flames.

Crews stretched several lines in an attempt to get water on the blaze before making entry into the structure to check for trapped or injured occupants.

While firefighters were inside the building, one of the members reportedly fell after the second floor collapsed. He was swiftly rescued then removed from the building.

The extent of his injuries has not been reported as life-threatening at this time.

Much of the flames were knocked down just before 1 a.m.

Officials said on November 24, 2020, a suspicious fire damaged the same building that remained under investigation.
