Second Deadly Stabbing in Less Than 24 Hours Confirmed in Newark's North Ward

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that they are investigating a stabbing that left a man dead in Newark's lower North Ward Thursday night. 

Real estate In the second deadly stabbing incident in Newark's North Ward in less than 24 hours, police were dispatched to an address in the 900 block of Franklin Avenue to investigate reports of an injured person around 9:35 p.m. 

Police arrived and found a male suffering multiple stab wounds at that location. Officials said he was rushed to University Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. 

No other injuries were reported and police released no information regarding a potential suspect.

In an earlier incident, police found a man stabbed in his neck inside an apartment building at 358 Mount Pleasant Avenue before 11:30 a.m. (Click HERE for Mount Pleasant fatal stabbing)

The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not reported if the incidents are connected at this time.
