Search Continues for Shooter in Jersey City Church Hall Shooting

Hudson County Prosecutor's Office announced tonight that the search for an 18-year-old Jersey City man wanted in connection with the fatal August 9 shooting at church hall, continues.

According to authorities, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Daequan Jackson, who has been identified as the person responsible of murdering 17-year-old Leander Williams of Jersey City.

Jackson is also facing charges of aggravated assault, after injuries two other juveniles at the event.

On the day of the incident, police responded to Holy Ghost Tabernacle Ministries (located at 517 Communipaw Avenue) shortly before 11:30 p.m. for a report of shots fired.

Arriving officers, located Williams (armed with a loaded gun) unconscious and unresponsive after suffering a gunshot wound.

He was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead sometime around midnight.

Along with Williams, two other juveniles - a 16-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl - were also wounded in the shooting. Both were transported to area hospitals for treatment but have since been released.
