A 62-year-old Scotch Plains man, accused of shooting a 17-year-old teen outside his Newark business in 2013, was sent to the Essex County jail today to await sentencing.
Superior Court Judge Alfonse Cifelli today denied Romans's request to remain free on bail until his July 13 sentencing.
On June 29, 2013, Daquan Jones was outside Romans's Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Grill - located off Lyons Avenue - when he was shot in the back of the neck.
Jones was transported to an area hospital where he survived his injuries.
Romans at trial, claimed he acted in self-defense.
He was found guilty of an aggravated assault charge, weapons offenses and a tampering with evidence charge (allegedly hiding the weapon after the shooting).
