Reward Offered for Unsolved Murder of Newark Woman

Newark – Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura’s Crimestoppers Program is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the murder of Lateshia Townes, 31, of Newark.

Authorities said on May 31, 2014 at 3:30 p.m., Townes was traveling southbound on South 20th Street as a passenger in a 2006 Silver Dodge Charger when she was shot in front of 765 South 20th Street in Newark.

Townes succumbed to her injuries on June 2, 2014 authorities said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/ Major Crimes Task Force is asking for friends of Townes’ or anyone with information to come forward.
