Sheriff Armando Fontoura today announced that his department’s Crimestoppers cash reward offered for information that leads to an arrest in last week’s shooting death of a Newark high school student has increased and now stands at up to $7,000.
“Donors from our community who wish to remain anonymous have contacted us and have pledged additional funding to our initial reward offer of $5,000,” Sheriff Fontoura noted. “These anonymous donors have been shocked and outraged by the circumstances surrounding the death of this promising young woman.”
Tammy Henderson, 19, was with friends in front of a South 11th Street residence late on Thursday night when a gunman opened fire into the crowd.
Henderson was struck by the gunfire and succumbed to her injuries the next morning.
Anyone with information about the crime are urged to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force at 1-877-847-7432.
All calls to law enforcement will be kept confidential.
