Resident Tip Leads to Arrest of Union Man Accused of Attempted Burglary

Police arrested a 19-year-old man after a resident alerted police of a suspicious male possibly attempting to burglarize a home.

Police responded to the Churchill Drive area after a resident reported that a suspicious man was walking around her neighbor's home possibly attempting to break-in.

Upon arrival, officers observed a man in the backyard walking away. Once the man, -later identified as William Mikael Angelides,- saw the officers, he took off into the wooded area through the west branch of the Elizabeth River.

Numerous officers responded, arresting Angelides in the rear parking lot of American Dental on the 1400 block of Morris Avenue. 

Detectives are investigating if Angelides is involved with any other burglaries in the area. He was charged with attempted burglary, obstruction, resisting arrest and possession of burglary tools. 

Angelides is being held at the Union Police Department, pending transfer to the Union County Jail. 

Bail was set at $50,000.
