U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Paul J. Fishman announced Tuesday that a 24-year-old Puerto Rican woman who attempted to bring almost three kilograms of cocaine through Newark Airport was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
Back in May of 2013, Kenia Diaz arrived to Newark Airport from Puerto Rico when a canine detected the cocaine in her suitcase.
The suitcase was searched leading agents to the discovery of 2.9 kilograms of cocaine.
Diaz pleaded guilty in April to one count of cocaine distribution.
