Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Samuel A. DeMaio announced today the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a fatal shooting.
At approximately 5:30 pm yesterday, Michael Hardy, 43, of Newark was fatally shot multiples times in the vicinity of 98 Fairmount in the Newark.
He was pronounced dead at 6 p.m. The investigation is active and ongoing. The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was not random. No suspect has been identified at this time. No arrests have been made.
