Newark police are asking residents to help identify an individual captured on surveillance video during an investigation into a shooting that occurred in the city’s North Ward.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr., the incident occurred at approximately 5:10 p.m. on May 10, 2026, when the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system detected gunfire in the 600 block of Broadway.
Responding officers canvassed the area and recovered two 9mm shell casings and three live 9mm rounds.
During the investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance footage that allegedly captured the shooting incident.
Investigators said the video showed an individual exiting a vehicle believed to have been involved in the shooting before running into an apartment building on Grafton Avenue between Summer Avenue and Broadway.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding possible injuries or a motive.
