Newark authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect connected to a daytime shooting incident that occurred earlier this year.

According to a statement released by Emanuel Miranda, police responded to reports of gunfire around 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, near Grafton Avenue and Broadway.

When officers arrived, they discovered ballistics evidence in the area.

A short time later, investigators located a male victim who had been involved in the incident.

The victim was not injured, but authorities said the hood of his vehicle had been struck and damaged by gunfire.

Detectives reviewing surveillance footage observed an individual believed to be responsible for discharging a firearm and striking the victim’s vehicle.

Officials are now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect seen in the surveillance images.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is urged to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS. Tips can be provided anonymously.
