Police Search for Suspect Wanted for Firing Shots at Police Near Newark Board of Education Building

Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura’s Crimestoppers Program is offering up to $10,000.00 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the below suspect wanted for two store robberies and an aggravated assault against a Newark Police officer.

According to authorities at approximately 6:44 p.m., on Thursday, October 27, 2016 officers responded to Fallas Discount Store, located at 131 West Market Street.

Police said the store had been robbed at gunpoint by three suspects who stole cash and merchandise then fled onto West Market Street.

According to police, on Friday, November 11, 2016, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Newark Police responded to Jackie’s Kids Clothing Store located at 715 Broad Street on a call of a robbery in progress.

Three armed suspects had entered the store demanding cash.

Officers observed the suspect inside the store shortly before he fled while firing shots at an officer while running onto Broad Street.

There were no injuries sustained in either incident police said.

The suspect remains at large while the other two suspects have been identified by Major Crimes detectives.

While police are actively searching for this suspect, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from city streets.

This investigation is continuing police said.
