Police Search Carjacking Suspect in Scotch Plains

Police in Scotch Plains are on the search for a suspect wanted for an armed carjacking that occurred at a diner on NJ-22 overnight.

According to preliminary reports, police were called to the Scotchwood Diner to investigate a reported carjacking that occurred shortly before 1 a.m.

Police arrived and were told that male suspects - who did not display a weapon- took a white Toyota Camry from the victim then sped away from the scene and onto NJ-22.

A "be on the lookout" was put out to surrounding municipalities for the vehicle that reportedly had an NJ licence plate number "R15-CYM".

Police canvassing several communities reportedly found the vehicle in near Lawrence Avenue in Westfield after the suspect bailed out of the car.

There were no immediate reports of arrests.
