Police Rescue Disabled Woman Raritan Twp. House Fire

Three officers rescued a disabled 75-year-old woman from a burning house early Tuesday.

According to preliminary reports, Raritan Township officers Brett Szatkowski, Adam Swiatek and Robert Schenck forced their way into a Becks Boulevard home sometime around 12:30 a.m. where they discovered a woman on a burning couch on the first floor.

Officials say the woman was flown to St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.

Police say a second person, the woman’s 38-year-old son, was transported Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for smoke inhalation.

The fire was brought under control in approximately two hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
