Police arrested two suspects who are wanted for a shots-fired incident that occurred in a section of Newark's South Ward Saturday evening.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 200 block of Peshine Avenue at around 9 p.m.
Upon arrival, police obtained a description of the suspects who sped away from the scene in a vehicle immediately after the shooting.
A short time later, officers canvassing the area for the vehicle attempted to pull over a car that fit the description at a location in the South Ward.
The vehicle sped away and led police on a brief pursuit that ended when the suspects bailed from the car near Homestead Park.
Police caught up with both suspects then placed them under arrest, according to police.
One of the suspects -a juvenile- required medical attention after suffering a non-life threatening leg injury during the chase.
The incident remains under investigation.
