Police Probe Late-Night Shots Fired Call on Mt. Prospect Avenue in Newark

Newark police are investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred late Sunday night in the city's North Ward, according to information released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda.

Authorities said officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Mt. Prospect Avenue at approximately 11:59 p.m. on May 31 after receiving a notification of gunfire in the area.

 

When officers arrived, they conducted a search of the neighborhood but did not locate any victims or discover any property damage connected to the incident. 

However, investigators recovered ballistic evidence at the scene, confirming that gunfire had occurred.

 

The investigation remains active and ongoing as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
