Police Make Arrest in Paterson Shooting that Injured Boy, 7

Police announced the arrest of a 29-year-old Paterson man accused of injuring a 7-year-old boy back in February.

On February 29, Justin Pope, allegedly fired a shot that went through a window of a Rosa Parks Boulevard home striking 7-year-old Jaiden DeLeon in the shoulder.

The boy, who was home with this grandmother, dialed 911 himself to report his injury.

Upon police arrival, Jaiden was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.

After almost two months, police arrested Pope without incident at a 12th Avenue home.

He has been charged with attempted murder, weapons offenses and possession of a defaced firearm.

Pope is currently being held pending bail proceedings.
