Police Issue Warrant for Irvington Township Suspect who Slashed Woman Inside Family Dollar Store in Newark

Police in Newark issued a warrant for the arrest of Ms. Janine Purkett, 30, of Irvington, on charges of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in an incident that occurred on Wednesday, February 6th.

According to a statement released by police, at approximately 4 p.m., officers responded to Family Dollar Store, located at 660 Clinton Avenue, on a report of an assault.

A woman had been cut with an object following a quarrel with another woman.

Detectives investigating this incident developed sufficient evidence to identify Janine Purkett as a suspect in this incident.

While police are actively searching for Purkett, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing her from the streets.
