Jersey City

Police are actively investigating two separate shootings this afternoon that has at least one injured in Jersey City today.

The first incident was reported at 1:15 p.m. on Ocean Avenue, according to police.  A man was found with a gunshot wound to his hip inside a small grocery store at the corner of Wegman Parkway and Ocean Avenue and was taken to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health with a non-life threatening injury, Jersey City public safety spokeswoman Carly Baldwin said this afternoon.

At about 2:14 p.m., police responded to Martin Luther King Drive, where an unidentified woman heard shots fired and shortly after claimed she felt a sharp pain on her leg, Baldwin said.

At this time, it does not appear the second victim was shot, Baldwin added.

Authorities could not confirm if both shootings are related, but she said that police are currently investigation both shootings as separate incidents.

Both have been released from the hospital.
