Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one person injured in Newark's West Ward early Monday morning. According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 1:47 a.m. when a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire in the area of 117 Isabella Avenue. Responding officers arrived on the scene and located shell casings, indicating a shooting had taken place. A canvass of the neighborhood did not immediately turn up any victims. While detectives were processing the scene, officials at University Hospital notified police that a gunshot victim had arrived at the emergency department. Investigators believe the individual was injured in the Isabella Avenue incident. The victim's condition has not been publicly disclosed, but no additional injuries were reported. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the suspect is still at large. Newark Police and detectives are continuing their investigation.
