Authorities in Newark are investigating two shootings that occurred in the city that began on Wednesday afternoon.
In the latest incident, police responded to reports of shots fired that erupted in the 200 block of Leslie Street, before midnight, where arriving officers found the victim suffering a gunshot wound.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where there were no immediate reports of life threatening injuries.
A tall black male with dreads was observed leaving the scene westbound on Lyons Avenue wearing a white shirt and blue jeans according to reports.
In a separate incident, police responded to the 100 block of Milford Street on Wednesday afternoon at around 2:15 p.m. after receiving reports of a person shot at that location.
First arriving police officers found the victim suffering a gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to University Hospital in an unknown condition.
A dark colored Audi fled the scene and was observed in an unidentified location in The City of Elizabeth.
Both shootings are under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
