Police Investigate Separate Reports of Gunfire in Newark

Separate overnight shootings in Newark had police investigating.

Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the area of Jeliff Ave. and West Bigelow Street at around 8:30 p.m.

Arriving officers found several shell casings at the scene but no victims. A crime scene was immediately setup and an investigation was launched.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the 100 block of 1st Street, gunfire reportedly erupted inside a building where a bullet penetrated a wall and entered an apartment.

Police arrived to the address where they immediately setup a crime scene.

There were no physical injuries reported.

The investigation for both shootings is being handled by the Newark Police Department.
