Police in Newark are looking into the motive behind a shooting that left a person injured in the city's South Ward late Tuesday night.
In the incident, a preliminary investigating indicated that shortly before 11:10 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Eckert Avenue and Huntington Street.
Police say the victim reportedly was shot inside the vehicle then transported to the hospital in an unknown condition.
Officers canvassed the scene for shell casings while a Major Crimes Unit and crime scene detectives were called to the area to assist in the investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
