Police in Newark are asking for the public’s assistance as they continue investigating a shooting that left one man injured late Friday night.
According to a statement released by Emanuel Miranda Sr., officers were dispatched around 8:46 p.m. on March 20, 2026, to the area of Baldwin Avenue near Clinton Avenue after receiving reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The injured man was transported to University Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
As the investigation continues, detectives are seeking 29-year-old Nahji Mayes of Newark for questioning in connection with the incident.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
