There were no severe injuries reported in a shooting that occurred in a Newark South Ward neighborhood Sunday evening.
According to preliminary reports, at around 6 p.m., gunfire rang out on Hawthorne Avenue, sending police to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, police taped off the scene and began to search for shell casings and other evidence.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
