A late Saturday night shots fired incident that erupted in Newark's South Ward is under investigation.
It happened around 11 p.m. in the vicinity of 28 Dayton Street.
A ShotSpotter device activated after gunfire erupted in that neighborhood.
Police arrived and found evidence that a shooting had occurred, but no victim was found.
A person suffering a gunshot wound entered University Hospital's emergency room around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, but authorities have not confirmed where the individual was injured since there were other shots fired incidents in the city.
Police collected shell casings on Dayton Street while detectives launched the investigation.
