Police Investigate Irvington Township Shooting; Injuries

A person found suffering a bullet wound in Newark has Irvington Township Police investigating early Tuesday morning.

According to preliminary reports, Newark Police officers were called to the vicinity of Fabyan Place and Clinton Avenue to investigate reports of a person shot just before 2:30 a.m. at that location.

When officers arrived, they found a male suffering a bullet wound in his upper torso according to police.

The victim was rushed to University Hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Police were pointed in the direction of the 500 block of Hawthorne Avenue in Irvington where Township authorities located several shell casings and other evidence indicating a shooting.

Irvington Township officials did not return comments for public information or community safety for the incident.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation. There were no other injuries reported.
