Jersey City Police, with the assistance of Cease Fire detectives, are investigating a shooting that occurred early Thursday night in a residential neighborhood.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Monticello Avenue and Jewett Avenue after receiving reports of gunfire around 11:45 p.m.
Upon arrival, police located several shell casings at the scene and secured the area with crime scene tape to begin their investigation.
After canvassing the neighborhood, no victims were found, and there were no immediate reports of injuries. Detectives believe the suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle after firing at unknown targets.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
