Authorities in Newark are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital in Newark's North Ward Sunday morning.
According to police, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 139 Parker Street at approximately 2:40 a.m.
Units arrived and found evidence that a shooting occurred and after a search of the area, no victims were found.
According to police, officials at University Hospital called authorities when an unidentified person entered the emergency room suffering a bullet wound in their stomach.
Police say the motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests were made.
