Police Investigate Early Morning Gunfire in Newark’s North Ward

Authorities in Newark are investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred early Wednesday morning in the city’s North Ward.According to preliminary reports, a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire in the area of 266 Grumman Street shortly before 2 a.m. 

Responding officers arrived on the scene and discovered multiple shell casings, confirming that a shooting had taken place.

Despite an extensive search of the surrounding community, no injuries were reported. 

Newark’s Shooting Response Team responded and is leading the ongoing investigation.

As of Thursday morning, no arrests have been reported.
