There is an active investigation underway into a shooting that injured a person in a section of Newark Thursday morning.
According to police, at approximately 12:10 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of 584 South 10th Street.
Upon arrival, police tape off the area after finding the unidentified victim suffering a bullet wound at that location.
Police say the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury in the buttocks.
Newark Police Major Crimes Unit was called to the scene to lead the investigation officials said.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation and no suspects were arrested.
