Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that sent a male to the hospital overnight in the city's South Ward.
According to Newark Police officials, officers were called to the vicinity of the McDonalds restaurant located in the 900 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue at around 10:45 p.m. to investigate reports of shots fired.
Several police units arriving at the scene found multiple shell casings, but as they canvassed the scene, they did not find a victim according to reports.
A short time later, police received a call from University Hospital Police that the victim entered the emergency department suffering a gunshot wound according to reports.
Doctors treated the unidentified victim then reportedly listed him in stable condition Newark Police officials said.
Officers at the crime scene collected nearly a dozen shell casings, but there were no other injuries immediately reported.
Witnesses in the area believe that the victim may have been a teenager, but police officials said that had not been confirmed at this time.
The suspect/s remains at-large.
