Police Car Strikes Pedestrian in Newark's Ironbound Section

A pedestrian suffered non-fatal injuries after being struck by a police vehicle in Newark's Ironbound section Tuesday evening. 

At approximately 5:05 p.m., a police supervisor was dispatched to the intersection of Union and Ferry streets to investigate a pedestrian strike. 

A Newark Police cruiser struck a pedestrian near the intersection. 

Officers transported the victim to University Hospital in their car for treatment and the situation is under investigation. 

No other injuries were rpeorted.
