Police in Newark are attempting to confirm the location of a shooting that left a person injured Saturday morning in the North Ward.
According to police, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officials at University Hospital notified police that a gunshot victim entered the emergency room seeking treatment.
Around the same time, police say a ShotSpotter device activated in the area of 189 North 13th Street, prompting officers to the scene.
Authorities say police found multiple shell casings at the shooting scene, but no victims were there when officers' canvassed the area.
Police have not confirmed connections to the incidents because there was an earlier confirmed shooting in another North Ward community.
