Police took two suspects into custody and charged them with attempting to break into several vehicles in Belleville overnight.
Shortly before 1:15 a.m., police were notified of four suspects who attempted to gain entry into cars in the area of 282 Belmont Avenue, according to preliminary reports.
Officers arrived and apprehended two suspects, but Bloomfield authorities and the Essex County Sheriff's Department assisted in a search for two other individuals.
Officers canvassed the area for the suspect, but no additional arrests were rpeorted.
The incident is under investigation.
