An overnight shooting in Jersey City had cops take a male suspect into custody and charge him with the shooting according to authorities.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the area of Sherman Avenue and Franklin Street shortly before 4 a.m.
Units arrived to the scene to find evidence that a shooting had occurred but no victim was found.
Witnesses gave police a description of the suspect who fired the shots as assisting units began to canvass the area according to reporting.
A man fitting the description of the shooting suspect was located on Beach Street and ordered to stop when he began to run from the area.
Police caught up with the suspect in the 60's block where they placed him under arrest reports said.
A house and a car was damaged during the shooting.
Police recovered a loaded weapon at the scene.
There were no injuries reported.
