Police Apprehend Shooting Suspect in Newark

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said members of the department's Fugitive Apprehension Team) arrested 32-year-old, Newark resident, Quennel Jordan, who was wanted for shooting a person on April 14, 2016 near Washington and West Kinney Streets.

According to Ambrose, early this morning, Jordan was taken into custody, without incident at a residence located in the 200 block of Sheppard Ave for charges of aggravated assault, possession of a gun, possession of the gun for unlawful purposes stemming from the shooting.

Jordan who was also on the department’s “Gang Member Warrant List’ was identified as the gunman after an extensive investigation by the Department's Cease Fire Shooting Response Team Director Ambrose said.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
