Police arrested two men who were wanted for firing shots on a Newark South Ward Street authorities said.
According to police, Terrance Howard, 23 and Corey Thompson, 29 were charged with for Aggravated Assault, Possession of a gun, Possession of the gun for Unlawful Purposes, Conspiracy and Criminal Mischief after being arrested overnight by members of the Department’s Special Investigation Bureau.
Police said at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, a citizen called the police after observing two men flee in a car after firing a gun on Tillinghast Street.
The dispatcher alerted police units in the field with members of the Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau spotting the car fleeing on Hawthorne Avenue authorities said.
Detectives reportedly activated the police car’s emergency lights and siren in an attempted to stop the fleeing vehicle.
Police apprehended the suspects on Dayton Street after they abandoned the car and ran.
There isn’t any evidence that anyone was struck by the suspect’s gunfire authorities said.
