Police Announce Expected Road Closures in Bloomfield

Bloomfield

Essex County and contracted construction crews will begin repairs at 7 p.m. this evening to Broad Street between Bellevue Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue.

Officials say work will continue every weeknight for the next few weeks. Work will begin at Bellevue Avenue and move South toward Bloomfield Avenue.

According to authorities, a strip of Broad Street will be closed between 7 p.m. until 6 am.

In addition, while milling and paving is taking place, sections of Broad Street will be intermittently closed to non-emergency traffic. Once the pavement is laid down, it cannot be driven on for several hours, officials added.

This project- which includes milling and paving - is being funded by the Essex County 2018 Roadway Resurfacing Program.

The Bloomfield Police Department will have personnel on these streets assisting with traffic and will exhaust all resources to give store owners and residents advance notice.

Officials say detour signs are posted and local residents will be given access into their homes. Residents that do not live in the work area must follow the detour route.

The County of Essex is managing this project, Department of Public works, which can be reached at (973) 226-8500.
