Authorities in Mays Landing reported on Friday, July 28, George B. Franco, 25, of Pleasantville, was detained pending trial by the Honorable Patricia Wild, J.S.C.

According to officials, Franco was detained on charges of Strict Liability for a Drug-Induced Death, Resisting Arrest, and Possession with Intent to Distribute in a School Zone.

These charges were issued on July 18, officials say, after an investigation into the death of 53-year-old Peter Thomas of Egg Harbor Township on May 23.

Police say it is alleged that Franco sold Thomas a lethal combination of heroin, fentanyl, 4-ANPP, and xylazine.

Franco was arrested on July 18 in Pleasantville and is lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, officials said.

The investigation was conducted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit, the Egg Harbor Township Police, and the Pleasantville Police.
