Plainfield Police Search Warrant of Apartment Yields Loaded Assault Rifle, Handgun, Suspect

A police operation to assure Plainfield residents safety and security throughout the city had officers scope out an apartment then conduct a successful raid that netted drugs and guns on Monday afternoon.

According to Plainfield Police Director Carl Riley, shortly after 4:00 P.M., members of the Plainfield Police Narcotics / Vice Section, executed a Superior Court Search Warrant at 711 Plainfield Avenue, Apt. 2H.

​Director Riley said as a result of this execution, detectives located approximately one hundred and fifty grams of marijuana and fifty folds of heroin.

In addition, police seized about 5000.00 dollars in cash as alleged proceeds of illegal narcotics distribution Director Riley said.

Detectives also recovered one AR-15 assault rifle which was loaded with a thirty round magazine containing hollow point rounds, and a Berretta .40 caliber handgun which contained a fully loaded magazine with hollow point ammunition as well.

Director Riley said **Mr.​Saleem Nicholson, 32**, -who resided at the apartment- was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

-Possession of Marijuana Over 50 Grams

-Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute Over One Ounce

-Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute within 500' Public Housing (Plainfield Towers West)

-Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute within 1000' School Property (Union County TEAMS Charter School)

-Possession of CDS

-Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute

-Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute within 500' Public Housing (Plainfield Towers West)

-Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute within 1000' School Property (Union County TEAMS Charter School)

-Possession of Weapon During Drug Scheme

- Certain ​Individuals Not to Possess Weapons

-Possession of Assault Weapon

-Possession of Dum Dum Bullets

-Possession of High Capacity Magazine

-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Director Riley thanked the Narcotics / Vice Section for a successful operation and vigilant residents who assist police rid their neighborhoods of crime.
