Plainfield, Elizabeth Women Arrested Following $20K Cocaine Seizure in Trenton

The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force recently concluded a month-long investigation with two arrests and the seizure of $20,000 in cocaine.

The task force received information that a black female would be arriving in Trenton operating a silver Honda Civic and transporting a large quantity of cocaine.

Surveillance officers on October 26th, observed and subsequently followed a silver Honda Civic that at the New Jersey Turnpike toll plaza at exit 7A. Officers followed the vehicle, being driven by a black female, until it got to Hamilton Avenue.

A motor vehicle stop was executed, the driver and her female passenger were detained without incident while Sergeant Joe Angarone and his K-9 partner, Bela, conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle.

A search warrant was obtained after Bela gave a positive indication of the presence of narcotic odor emanating from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 201 grams of powder cocaine in the trunk. The seized drugs have an approximate street value of $20,100.

The driver, Keisha Williams, 34, of Plainfield, and passenger, Sapphire Gomez, 22, of Elizabeth, are each charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, first-degree possession with the intent to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park. Both women were released pending future court proceedings.

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
