Pets Dead in Early Morning Marlboro Fire

Fire officials in Marlboro Township are investigating an early morning fire that killed two pets inside a home on Sunday.

According to authorities, at around 3:24 a.m., the Marlboro Township Police Department received a

9-1-1 call that concerned an unknown disturbance at 1089 Roseberry Court located in the Point DeJardin Townhome Community in the Morganville section of Marlboro Township.

Officials say upon officers’ arrival they discovered a fire contained to the upper level of the residence.

The occupants were able to evacuate the residence with the assistance of the responding police officers according to officials.

The Robertsville Fire Department, Morganville Fire Department and the Gordons Corner Road Fire Department responded to the scene and were able to contain the fire to the single townhome unit.

The Morganville and Marlboro First Aid Squads responded to assist with the fire operations.

The Marlboro Township Fire Prevention Bureau, Monmouth County Fire Marshall, Marlboro Township Police Detective Edward Ungrady and Ptlm.

Taylor Rounds are the investigating officers of the fire.

There were no reported injuries to any of the residents or fire personnel as a result of the fire.

Officials say during a search of the interior of the residence by the fire department, it was discovered that two family pets, a dog and cat, were found deceased as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
